In a Japan where humans coexist with supernatural beings, oni, fox spirit, nekomata, and other ayakashi have become a regular part of Japanese society with their superior abilities and beauty. Occasionally, a human girl is found to be a suitable "bride," someone who can bring prosperity to the ayakashi, and is promised eternal love and devotion. Yuzuko, a high school girl, has a younger sister who is the promised bride of a fox spirit, and Yuzuko is neglected and unloved in comparison. One night, when her heart is finally broken, Yuzuko runs into the most beautiful young man she has ever seen on the street.
